First off, I don't have a webcam

So far I've made a few mp3's of my playing and I could upload them if you know of a place to upload mp3 files.

The problem I have though is that I can't seem to get a decent recording sound. I record via Line-Out on my amp.

Whenever I record, my sound gets lost completely in the background or it gets really really messy because of the huge dynamic range. The only way I've managed to control it is by going through my Compressor, but then the sound gets ...

Went to the Barbican Hall in London last night to see Marcus Miller! The supporting band was Gary Husband's (Level 42 drummer) own jazz band. Frankly, it was aweful Some people liked it but my guitarist and I thought it sounded like random note spam and just noise, and my dad fell asleep during it so it must have been bad Onto Marcus (my dad didn't fall asleep through his set, a good sign!) He played some songs from Miles Davis' Tutu album and played a couple of his own songs (Blast was awesome ...

Alright, i just started playing bass yesterday, and i managed to find my way here. Anyway, i've been meaning to pick it up for a while without ever getting to the point of buying one.

So i was at my uncles' place and we were talking about music and i ended up asking him if he known anyone who could sell a second hand bass that won't break. He used to record music for a living, so i was thinking he would be able to find something better then i could. He said he'd look, and it turned out that ...

For myself, Mastodon's new album Crack the Skye has been on constant repeat and I would recommend it to anyone. It's one of those albums that just gets better each time you listen to it, I have a feeling that it will be one ...

How do I stop the 3 from ringing out when I switch to the poppin' bit? It sounds OK if I do it slowly, but sounds horrible if I speed it up. I tried using my thumb to mute the A string, but that's uncomfortable and awkward, and I ...

Anyone get their debut album yet?

For those that don't know, Them Crooked Vultures is a group comprising of Josh Homme (Kyuss QOTSA), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). They have just released their debut album and it is amazing. Grohl and Jones form a perfect partnership and if you love your bass (which I know you do ) this album is just covered in some great basslines.

So yea, where do you rest your thumb when you play with your fingers?

I tried lower the strap but that didn't work. What should I do? Is there a way to fix it or I should get a bigger one?

I assume that the part where my thumb comes together with my palm (that lump) keeps gliding over it and thus making it ring too much. I've tried to position my palm so that It's actualy ...
