Hooray!
I'm quite proud of myself. I've learnt a song entirely by ear for the very first time!
Admittedly, the song is just the same riff/same two riffs (whichever it is) over and over again, but you gotta start somewhere, right?
Here it is... starts at about 50 seconds.
it really is quite a ridiculous song isn't it
So yeah... Even if you don't like the song (which is understandable) it's a nice easy starting point for learning by ear, I've found. Hopefully I've got it right, it definitely sounds right to me... I'mma spoiler the tabs in case anyone wants to learn it by ear; those who don't, could you have a look and a listen and see if I have got it right? Don't want no false pride

It makes learning music way more satisfying, and you don't have to bother with looking for tabs forever.

I tabbed about half of the riffs in Hysteria (Muse) by ear

Re: Hooray!
I can't remember the first song I learnt to play by ear... I think back when I first started playing bass, I worked out how to play 7 Nation Army completely randomly, I just sat down & started playing it. I didn't even like the song....

Re: Hooray!
First song I learnt by ear was Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People. I hate his image but love some of his songs...

He has been one of my faves since.... ever!!
Same, most people seem to dislike him these days but I've listened to him since I was a child.

Glad to hear that you appreciated that great song!
And I have to inform you that the bassist is using a 6-string.
