Slap 'n Pop: Can't quite get it Empty Slap 'n Pop: Can't quite get it

Hey everyone, I am an intermediate player who has tackled some pretty advanced songs and I play pretty well for having only 1 year under my belt, but I can't seem to wrap my head around Slap 'n Pop. Dman did a great job at getting me started so I know how to execute a slap and a pop, but I can't figure out how to apply the technique in a song. I can't exactly feel my way around this, and because of it I am still VERY new to slap and pop, so treat me like I never even watched his videos. I don't exactly know what I am asking for, so if you guys can just kind of explain slap 'n pop to me and how to use it, that would be great. Thanks!

If you have the basic technique down, just follow Flea's example in RHCP. Play octaves and some dead notes. That's pretty much all you need, the rest will come naturally in time.
