Popping too hard? Empty Popping too hard?

Post  Alex31 Sat May 15, 2010 6:06 am

I recently broke the G string in my bass Sad
I was practicing slapping and popping..

I was wondering, has this ever happened to anyone else or was I probably just doing it too hard?

Also, when you pop, is it like a plucking motion(one finger) or is it more like pinching with your thumb and Index finger?

It's possible, try using less of your finger if that makes any sense.
It's a pluck.

When I slapped Flea style, I broke a G and a D. Now I slap Marcus Miller style, which seems to be much safer Razz Just use less of your finger as Drop said

Okay I get what you mean DroptheLines. Maximo, I'll youtube them Wink

the only problem I have right now is that when I don't use most of my finger, sometimes it dosn't come out but I'll get it with practice.
Thanks guys. Smile

I remember that. We get a good play-by-play of all the string breaking action.
