Debates?

Maybe every week someone could make a debate topic and a thread for it. Something like "Best classic rock bassist" or something similar, and wed all debate on who we think it is. Just for fun of course. Feedback?

No. Based on when lololiet and Pastichio were duking it out over Led Zep, I don't think it's a good idea

Might be fun actually, as long as people don't take it very personally.

Debating hasnt gone well on this forum regardless of the tone. If that wasnt a problem though theres nothing stopping us just making these topics whenever, doesnt have to be structured or anything.

Ah man it wasn't that bad really, no body got hurt or anything and I do like a good argument. As much as I disagreed with lololiet he stuck to his guns and I respect that.

I like this idea of a debate for fun. But what could make it more interesting if two people were nominated to stake their case for whoever bassist and then write their argument for that bassist. Then the rest of us could decide who made the better argument. Since we all know there really isn't a 'best', we would be voting on who made the stronger argument and not the bassists in question. Plus it will give us all a chance to be fanboys and do a write up on our favourite bassist. So long as nobody robs an article off the net it could be a lot of fun.

I like that idea actually. I still probably won't take part in it just because it's in my nature to not give a shit about these sorts of things, I rarely feel the need to defend what I like y'know?

It wouldnt be like defending what you like, more like expressing why you think such and such is great.

And then defending why you think such and such is great because some other bugger's waltzed in and tried to shit all over it

Seriously don't have as much interest in famous bassists as you guys do so I'd probably not even participate.

To be honest, if you want to have or stage a debate about something: just open a topic about it.
