CALLING ALL BASSISTS
Are you a bassist? If yes, excellent. If no, you should probably think about trying it out sometime. It's pretty damn cool.
Anyway, once upon a time this forum used to have a thing called 'Song of the Week'. Once a week, Smaz would post a song and the idea was that people would post bass playalongs of that song. There was also a 'Songs of the Fortnight' thing, in which many songs would be posted at varying difficulty levels.
WHERE, O WHERE AM I GOING WITH THIS?
Yep. S'right. We're bringing these bad boys back, fusing them together and sending the product of our mad experiment out into these soft blue hues to fend for itself. Oh, but of course this Siamese monstrosity won't be alone. No, no, no. It'll have all you gloriously lovely, charitable and kind fat stringers ready on hand to feed it grain-y (lol i maed a joek) Youtube videos of your good selves havin' a good ol' pluck. It will, won't it? It will? Surely it will. Give it some love. Give 'Songs of the Week' some love.
Once a week, an SOTW thread will be posted. This thread will contain 4 or 5 songs: some Beginner, some Intermediate and some Advanced songs, all roughly fitting into some genre or another. Then you can learn one or more of these songs, and perhaps upload a cover of it onto whichever video hosting/sharing website tickles your fancy. Not got the song down 100%? Not confident of your playing ability? Can only record with a 2-and-a-half watt bass amp and a webcam older than Jesus? Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter one bit. Bung a cover up. Go on. Mark it as unlisted, if you like. It'll be fun, I promise.

Re: CALLING ALL BASSISTS
It'll start next week. Next Friday.
TLS... that ttly sux. You can still learn some of the songs though, if you'd like.
For people who don't just want to sit in front of a webcam with their amp, here's a nice thread with good information about recording from a while back.
