Almost anything by Muse or Nirvana is pretty good for beginners.

Check the SOTW in Bass chat Very Happy

Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes is a good 'un also, as is Rock You Like A Hurricane by The Scorpions.

Here's Dman's lesson on Seven Nation Army

Tab for Rock You Like A Hurricane, and a j00t00b video of it.

I wish you naught but joy and jubilation on your merry skip down bass street Very Happy

First song/riff I learnt was "Guerilla Radio" by Rage Against the Machine, followed by Otherside by the Red Hot Chili Peppers...then it was Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden. Hallowed took me a long while because I was just a beginner, but it got me wroking through the minor scale like butter!

Scroll through dman's lessons. He has a lot of beginner stuff Smile

Almost anything by Muse, you say? Razz

First riff I learnt was "Don't Forget Me" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Hysteria is easy as shit once you get the smooth touch down and can keep the tempo up.

I haven't been able to keep the tempo up for two years. Mind you, I've probably spent about 20 minutes total practising it.

I've got the smooth fingering and tempo down.

Problem is my action is higher than the Mt Everest, so you don't hear anything.

Actually, it's even easier with a synth pedal like the EHX Bass Microsynth, as it normalizes your playing and gives that smoothness without you needing to be very precise at all. Neat.
