Wow, guys. I haven't been on here in so very, very long. But in saying that, I've not learnt much worth contributing, nor had any questions to ask! but this time.. I DO!

6 string bass, .30 high string usually a C, tuning up to a D, I usually use a much lighter string so wasn't sure.. Thoughts?

So I normally have like a .25 or so, as for my band I tune retarded (Low A, D, A, D, High A, High D) - But I've just seen that the DR Marcus Millers come in 6 string now, and i want to use them for my 6-er because I love them so dearly on my 4. - But at the same time, no point if the gauges won't work for my bass. Ya feel me?

The gauges are 30 45 65 85 105 130

Talk to me, lovelies. For I've missed you all!

P.S - I still have a beard, and it's still fantastic.

No experience in up tuning, but I think that a .05 increase in gauge with a single note higher shouldn't matter too much. As long as the bass is decent and with a strong neck (but a 6 string should have a strong neck anyway Smile ).

The thicker gauge will help with down tuning though, less floppy strings.

Got the strings last week, tried them out at band prac last night. It's like these strings were made for me. Beyond perfect!
