Dogs In Bands

I have now been playing for almost a year and a half. So the last couple months I started trying to find a band. It hasn't gone very well. I don't seem to have enough experience playing to get in with established bands. Due to the merciless nature of my teacher I seem to have way more theory knowledge than any of the beginner forming bands I've talked to, and they don't seem interested. Maybe it's just that everyone is against having a dog in a band. I continue to try, though.

Well, tonight I played with a band for the first time and was invited to join. It really feels awesome!

Glad to hear it. It's not just your teacher, it's the same with any player who takes lessons vs. self taught musicians.You just gotta learn to adapt. I've had that happen with me too :S I ended up being the only one who knew enough theory to actually put some of the riffs and songs together in the end though XD They weren't interested, but they were very greatful when I came in and "saved the day"

And tonight, we played our first gig. I was super nervous, but in the end we really crushed it, and everyone loved us. Feels like I've come a very long way.
