Bass problem/modification/repair section
I reckon we should have a new section for the above it would make it easier for folks to find answers to simple problems that have already been remedied and it would be a place for everyone to learn about their instruments.
What do y'all think?

Re: Bass problem/modification/repair section
Actually I think there should be a stuck locked thread where admins take our suggestions and add it to one post (starting bit so always people can find their info) people who need the infomation post: I have this problem... in a new thread people reply then summerises and puts into the main thread.
people who have same problem (eg sticker removal) press Ctrl+F type sticker in. and there they have the info. It does mean SMAX and Welshy would have more resposibility, as well.

Re: Bass problem/modification/repair section
A bass mod section sounds like a good idea, people can post any changes they've made to their bass (pups etc).

I think that a stuck tech issue thread is a fantastic Idea.

Yeah a DIY area is a great idea. Things like action adjustment, or even how to change your strings would likely help a lot of new players.

I'm here, considering the best way to do it, before submitting my proposal to dman....

Re: Bass problem/modification/repair section
Smaz, if you want any help moderatiing it I am willing to help, apart from major fret work I have just about done every repair/mod there is out there on bass guitars. I spend more time pulling basses to bits than playing them

I can de-fret it but there would be lots of dips in the fretboard where the frets used to be -

Dont you just like.. putty it and sand it down? then lower the action? from what I recall reading about like, 9 months ago.

Re: Bass problem/modification/repair section
Yeah - its really easy (sarcasm)
Also if you still wish to use roundwound strings you have to coat the entire fingerboard after the fret slot filling/sanding etc as the roundwound strings damage the fretboard. The fretboard is usually coated with an epoxy resin painted on - you need a few coats to do a good lasting job.
If your gonna use flats then this is not necessary.
Anyway this is going off-topic
