Re: need easy beginner bass songs to learn
Erm... Seems a bit rude to demand some songs in capital letters (may not have been intentional but it seems like you're shouting) out of the blue with no prior posts doesn't it?
Maybe take the time to introduce yourself to the forum first

Although I agree in principle, the beauty of the forum concept is that one person asks a question and hundreds can benefit from the answers.
So for me, it doesn't matter if this was his first and only post ever, and he even left without ever reading the reply. By extension he helped me, because his question helped me (another beginner) because I read the lists of replies and try to work on those songs, and thus benefit greatly
And thanks for the list of songs guys. If you can think of a few more laid back easy songs (to be played in the middle of the night on the acoustic, without waking the neighbors ), that would be great as well.

Re: need easy beginner bass songs to learn
interesting that its all men moaning about being used, isnt a womans usual complaint of people coming in and leaving as soon as they get what they want?

There arent enough females on the forum so the males have to complain so that we dont go mad.

Re: need easy beginner bass songs to learn
LOL.
Somehow I doubt you'll see any response from the OP. I even doubt he ever returned to the forum after posting this.
I for one, however, thank you all for a great bunch of songs. There's definitely more easy (as in relaxed, not simple) songs on the list now, and a breadth of genres too. Is funk ever simple to do, or should I just leave it well alone until I've mastered my left hand and fret/note locations? With my short fingers I'm having enough trouble with that bit as it is.

Re: need easy beginner bass songs to learn
It all comes down to personal taste my friend. Funk looks simple, but it has to be precise and snappy, and that in itself can cause problems for people just learning the bass.
If you don't want to play it, don't. What is your prefered genre? Focus on that for now, and you'll naturally evolve into other genres as you progress as a bass player.
What I don't want to be doing as an online teacher, is to be giving you lessons that you can't do, and knock down your confidence. So just focus on the stuff you can do right now, and try to perfect it. Once you can do it perfectly (be strict with yourself) move on...

Re: need easy beginner bass songs to learn
I really reccomend rock as an easy beginner-genre. Just spam single notes.

Yeah, as long as you play with a band or play along to the record. It'll really help you keep time and build up stamina. Some freaky guy wrote:I really reccomend rock as an easy beginner-genre. Just spam single notes.

Dmanlamius wrote:If you don't want to play it, don't. What is your prefered genre?
I have no real preferred genre, when it comes to the bass. I love bass. I listen to House music for the bass, and I equally listen to opera and symphonies (although not entirely for the bass )
In general I guess I am a rocker, but I LOOOOOVE the groove of the funk. Makes me feel like I'm a stoner, without being stoned.. if that makes sense
So, I'll play anything I like, and I won't play anything I don't like. Genre is not an issue
And yes Freaky and TLS.. I think rock can be a good exercise for stamina, especially since I usually try to do two-finger walking and it's SO tiring

Re: need easy beginner bass songs to learn
Too expensive. Much cheaper to just feel all mellow and chillin, without the added cost.
