Say, you have tabbed something in Notepad, all fine and dandy. You want to post it on the forum. "Well, easy enough", you say and hit ctrl+c, ctrl+v and submit your post.

This is your result: (this was taken from the your riffs thread.)
G|---------------|-------------|----------765-|---------------|
D|-----5--3------|---5--3------|----5--3------|-----5--3------|
A|-----------543-|-------------|--------------|-----------345-|
E|--3------------|-3--------012|--3-----------|--3------------|

That doesn't really look organized, does it?
The problem here is that Notepad uses a fix-width font (where all the characters have the same width) as opposed to, say, Word and most of the websites around, where some characters are smaller than others. So how do we get a fixed-width font? Well, Courier New is one. Let's try that.
1. Copy your tab from notepad (or whatever you use) to your forum box.
2. Select all of the tab.
3. Look for the 'A' in the top right corner of your message editing stuff. You probably know what I'm talking about here.
4. Click it and select 'Courier New'.
5. You're now good to go!

G|---------------|-------------|----------765-|---------------|
D|-----5--3------|---5--3------|----5--3------|-----5--3------|
A|-----------543-|-------------|--------------|-----------345-|
E|--3------------|-3--------012|--3-----------|--3------------|

And, for the people under us who have Guitar Pro or some other tabbing software. Here's to do it in Guitar Pro (the others are bound to have similar options):

There are two ways which you can do this with.
One: (ASCII tab, no note duration kept, quickly on the forum)
1. Open your Guitar Pro tab.
2. Go to File -> Export -> ASCII
3. Edit as necessary.
4. Hit the 'export' button.
5. Save your file as a .txt
6. You now have a notepad file of the tab, so you can proceed as normal.
(7.) If you accidentally saved is as a .tab file, don't worry! Just open it. A dialogue will pop up asking you which program you want to use. In Windows XP, select "Select program from a list" (Windows Vista and 7 carry similar options). Then from the list, select Notepad. Make sure to check the box that says "Always use this program to open this kind of file"!

Two: (Images, note duration kept, takes long to get on to the forum)
1. Open your Guitar Pro tab.
2. Go to File -> Export -> BMP
3. Save your file. Be aware, though that this only saves the current page. You have to repeat step 2 for all the pages in your tab file.
3a. Optional, but recommended. Open Paint. Then open your first page (.bmp file) and hit File -> Save As... Then re-save it as .jpg or .png. Repeat this step for the rest of your pages. If you have done this, you can delete the .bmp files.
4. Use an imagehost (such as TinyPic or ImageShack) to upload your first file.
5. You will be taken to a page containing several links. Select "Direct Link". Copy it.
6. Go to your forum post and paste the link. Now make sure it's between [img]-tags. (example: (I broke the first tag on purpose. You should do it without spaces)
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for all images.
8. Hit the 'Submit' button. You're done!

Well, Mr DropTheLines, let me tell you about that. I don't know about Pro Tab Editor, but I do have Guitar Pro.
