Sunday Covers Empty Sunday Covers

Post  Pippynip Sun Jun 13, 2010 12:29 am

Instead of Songs of the Week or Songs of the Fortnight, how about something like Sunday Covers? Basically, one of our esteemed mods makes a thread entitled something like "Sunday Covers! (date here)" and everyone posts a cover of a song. Any song they like. Very little discussion, bar "Good cover!" or "That was kinda bad, to improve it I recommend doing X Y and Z."

The only problem I can think of is thread clutter. Perhaps a 'Sunday Covers!' section could be made in Learn To Play, although that's getting kinda cluttered as it is. Or it could work like SOTW did, sticky it then when the next one comes along we let it fade into obscurity.

I dunno, what does all y'all think of it? Very Happy

also i am aware they're not reeeally covers, they're playalongs, but Sunday Playalongs doesn't sound as nice

Well of course its a possibility. If people want to do it though. See if theres interest and as long as everyone is willing to do different styles most weeks.

I don't mean everyone does one song, that'd just be a rebrand of SOTW. I meant everyone chooses their own song to do. I don't see a reason not to do it tbh, excluding recording issues of course.

Should be good as long as people are enthusiastic about it and actually post something

I would definitely participate, i have, however, still no way of recording.
I will be available to provide positive feedback though.

As I finally have a good way of recording I'd do this at least every second time.

I thought id revive this. Perhaps a sub-section (is that the right term?) could be made in the learn to play section just for the sunday covers. Each week a new thread would be made and a date would be givin (ex: Sunday Covers 4/31/11)

I'm not. It's a silly idea.

HOWEVER

I do think there should be a section for bass covers. Currently all we seem to have is a stickied thread in 'Your Music'. Just have a section somewhere called something like "Forum Members' Bass Covers" and if we post a cover in it we call it "Pippynip - Enter Sandman" or "DavidM96 - Enter Sandman" so that critique and/or appraisal can be given to each member individually.
