Neither are better, it's what's best for you! You have to go to a shop and try them yourself because we can't make the decision for you, everyone has different tastes and what basses we may love you might hate.

But then again if you want the classic original bread and butter bass tone, that can fit into any situation, go with a P-bass

+1 to everything Max said!

'Humbucker' is very vague, and can apply to many basses, so we could say something about one, that doesn't apply to another. P-bass on the other hand is very specific Smile

I went to my local shop, tried a Jazz bass, tried a Precision bass. I walked away with the Jazz. 2 years later, I couldn't resist any longer & went back for the P-bass Smile

P-basses are absolute monters - great sound, great fun to play. If you went for one of them, I don't think you'd regret it Smile

Personally i wouldnt go with a P bass.
The problem that i have with it, is that it can only really do two sounds.
I prefer basses with 2 pickups just for the versatility

I'd say it can only do one sound. They sound terrible when the treble is rolled off. I like mine though.

I tend to like keeping the tone control rolled off (on whatever bass I play) Razz I like that extra deep and slightly boxy sound. I do turn it up if I need some more definition or high end for something like slap
