Sound problem (might be the amp?) Empty Sound problem (might be the amp?)

OK I will try to describe my problem as simple as my English can get...

For the past week I am noticing some problems with my bass' sound in a specific song (Noissettes: Never Forget You). I finally managed to learn the damn song and I swear to all gods that my fingers are properly placed on frets.

When I slide two frets the sound is pretty yucky and muddy, I can't hear the slide of notes, but a slide like a metal worm is walking on my A string. Sometimes it walks on my D string. Is it me? Is it my amp?

Even when I walk the sound is not free, it's pretty like staccatos.

And when I play 8th notes I have the same quality problems.

Am I addicted to youtube bass covers and I can't recognise my own bass amp sound?

When I plug the headphones the sound it's OK.

WHAT THE HECK!?

I knew my amp is kinda cheap but hey no job I shouldn't be whinning. Until I know it's my amp fault.

Help?!

If everything is fine with headphones, then I'd assume that the issue is with the speaker of the amp

Could it need some equalization?

I moved the amp for 3-4 days but the knobs have the same settings and my room is as it was before I move it... :/

How do we know for sure before I get it to rubbish?

Yeah, maybe trying different settings might help. But I'm not sure what else you could do tbh Neutral Maybe see if you can somehow try your bass, cables, etc. with another amp just to make sure its definitely a problem with the amp

The easiest for me it's to buy a new cable... :/

I don't know anyone else with a bass amp but I'll try to check the amp with another bass (a friend of mine has one - she plays with headphone amp so I will check them both)

Thanks Maximo!

Go to your local music store bring your bass and tell them you are interested in buying a new bass amp but would like to try a few amps first. Play the bassline you have learned then you should be able to tell if its the amp or the bass

That's a very very brilliant idea.
The local store is about 300m from my house will do it tomorrow.

Thanks!
