EPIC WIN! Very Happy I think the ending should be 4 C's/3 on A strings instead of C#'s/4 on A strings though. ...I might be wrong however Razz

Igastopheles wrote:This is just a crazy idea, which will not be fulfilled(if I even attempt it) until I get a decent camera. But I thought I'd just throw it out there: would anyone at all be interested in bass how-to videos of every track off Metallica's Kill 'Em All album? This is the track listing(just for anyone who doesn't know it):

1. Hit the Lights
2. The Four Horsemen
3. Motorbreath
4. Jump in the Fire
5. (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth
6. Whiplash
7. Phantom Lord
8. No Remorse
9. Seek & Destroy
10. Metal Militia

I'm definitely willing to record and upload all of them, with the exception of Anesthesia which would be a "maybe." I know Cliff never really played it the same way twice but I would still like to get as close to the studio track as possible. So I'll record that one if I can figure out enough of it to please me, haha.

Once again, this would not happen for several months, but I would love to start recording by the end of the year. Gives me plenty of time to burn every song into my brain(and bust my balls over Anesthesia), haha. I was just throwing the idea out there, wondering if anyone would appreciate me doing that sometime. Surprised

That would be amazing.

i havent been on for a while, but my exams are over now Smile. Im going to update my cant stop tab to the wway i play it now, which is changing the verse rythm, the bridge becomes more complex and a little solo i picked up from watchin a vid of john F live and changeing one of his fills to bass, so that should be done soon.

I will be coming on more often now that im off school for 2 weeks, so looking forward to running into people in the chatbox

I would like to thank you all.

These are very inspirational. I have been 'messing about ' with my bass for two years and yeah I can play a few tunes but not really progressed as much as I would like.

Mainly because I just play along to the Ipod. I moved to a foreign country (sweden) and dont know anybody to jam with which I think need to improve. I was at the point of selling off my bass and buy a guitar and keyboard. However watching a few of Dmans clips and your posts I realise I love the sound of the bass too much to give it up.

Thanks and keep it up boys!

Post  danthewelshy Mon Aug 24, 2009 9:55 pm

Hey all

Just made a quick exerice this morning as I was looking to get my slap staminia back into shape, so I though I would share with Dmans forum so others could maybe benefit from it aswell. Of course to get the best out of this play it at a tempo you feel happy with where every not is clear and it doesn't sound rushed. Also play it for a few minutes so you feel your hand starting to tire.

G----------------------------------------------079------------------
D---------------------------------------------------079-057------------
A-----------------3-XX-3-XX-5-XX-5/7-XX----------------057-------
E---5 XX 5-XX---------------------------------------------- -
The 5/7 bit is a hammer on - hammer on from fret 5(D) to 7(E)

On the last part with the lick, slap the open string then hammer onto the 7 and then 9.

By the the way its mainly in A Aeolian which is the 6th mode of C Major.

Sam & Dave - Soul Man

I believe this is also the same as the blues brothers version, however I have played it without using open strings so that it can be moved to suit which key it's played in Smile

Post  maxf13 Wed Nov 04, 2009 10:00 pm

as it looks like the last post was quite a while ago i thought i might restart this topic
i think this is right but im not 100% sure

its a kickass song by a kickass band.

anywho
this song is played on a 5 string flattend by a semitone (Bb Eb Ab Db Gb).
im gonna tab it out in that tuning first and then for a 4 string bass for those people that dont have a 5 string

here goes:

Key
~ = hold the note
6^7^6 = bend the 6th fret until it sounds like the 7th fret then bend it back
/ = slide up
\ = slide down

VERSE (0:13):
|--------------------------
|--------------------------
|--------------------------
|--------------------------
|--5-----------------------

|---------------------------------------- }
|---------------------------------------- }
|---------------------------------------- X3 }
|---------------------------------------- }
|---2--2-0-5--2----2-2--2-5-5-5----- }
}
} Repeat this three times
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|---2--2-0-5--2----2-2-2-5---------- }

CHORUS (0:55):

|-----------------------------4-6^7^6-4---------------------------------
|-----------2----------2-4-6---------------------2-------------------------
|---4--2-4---4--4--4-----------------------2-4---4--4--4-2------------- Play this bit four times.
|---------------------------------------------------------------4-2--------
|--------------------------------------------------------------------5-2---

VERSE 2 (1:22):

|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|---2--2-0-5--2----2-2--2-5-5-5----- }
}
} Play this bit four times.
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|--------------------------------------- }
|---2--2-0-5--2----2-2-2-5------------ }

CHORUS 2(1:49):

This is exactly the same as the last one except right at the end you add this

|---------
|---------
|---------
|---------
|--2~----

GUITAR SOLO (2:21):

Let the guitar play the riff once first then bass kicks in with this.

|--------------
|--------------
|--------------
|--0-12-0---
|--------------

|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|------------------------------------------------------------------------- play this until the end of the song
|-9--9-0-9--9-9\7-7-7--7--7-0-9--9-0-9--9-9/12-12-12--12-12-0-

Post  maxf13 Wed Nov 04, 2009 10:10 pm

ok same thing again but this time for a 4 string bass
im not gonna tab the whole song out again just the sections where they differ
remember this is still downtuned (Eb Ab Db Gb)

VERSE:

|----------------------------------
|----------2-------------2-2-2----
|--4--4-2----4--4-4--4----------
|---------------------------------

and the second part of verse

|----------------------------------
|----------2------------2--------
|--4--4-2----4--4-4-4----------
|---------------------------------

CHORUS

the chorus stays the same except the run at the end instead of being like this:

|---------------------------------
|------2-------------------------
|-2-4---4--4--4-2-------------
|--------------------4-2--------
|---------------------------5-2---

you will have to play it an octave up like this instead:

|-----------------6-4--------------------
|-------2--------------6-4--------------
|--2-4---4--4-------------7-4---------
|-----------------------------------------

and the end of the second chorus will be this:

|--------------------
|--------------------
|-----------4~~--
|-------------------

and the guitar solo stays the same.

have fun people

also if some people could go through that and tell if there some bits wrong and then i can edit them to make them right.

i might also do a video lesson once i get this 100% correct.

Post Your Own Lesson - Page 3 Empty Cool Riffs

Post  Basingah Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:53 pm

Hey this is for tabbing any riffs that you might have made up or from a song that you think is cool.

Queen - Dragon Attack

G|--------------|-------------|
D|------------3-|------------|
A|-5-3---3-5---|-5-3----3-5|
E|------5-------|-------5----|

It's a cool riff, and it's basically that all the way through, I think at some part it might move up two frets at some point though

Tab tab tab tab!
