Brilliant bass artist! :)
Hey guys! It's been a while since I was last here. Wonder if anyone remembers me :S
I've been working on my playing a lot as well as scouring the web and researching various artists.
This one in particular left me breathless. The tone is magical, the melodies are fantastic and the skill is amazing.
Plus, the guy plays my current dream bass!
In any case, after watching Dman's videos no other bass player managed to grab my attention me... until now. Simply beautiful!
A video of him playing:

Here's a few samples from his album:

...and a website, if you're interested:

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
Yes, well things have been busy. Two bands, one cover and one with our own material + university work have left me only with enough time to check my mail and facebook messages XD
Anyway, back on topic.
Yea, the guy is amazing. I've exchanged a few e-mails with him and apparantly he is struggling with finances as is. He said he had to sell his Warwick Streamer.
From what I've heard, I think he deserves a lot more. Not just money-wise, but career-wise too. I don't know about you, but hearing him play opened up new boundries for me.
Any ideas on how to get him noticed?

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
None, I'm afraid. Money is tight and people are thick. I think to be honest the only people he'll ever really appeal to are people who are really, really interested in music. People like us, who play it themselves. Might be wrong, though. Hope I'm wrong. Like you said, the dude deserves much more.
Word of mouth is a start. I'm gonna plug this to everyone I think would be interested in it. Perhaps a few who I think wouldn't be as well

Yea
By the way, I've spent the last 3 days listening to his album over and over again. It's freakin' amazing
It's the first solo album that I've actually enjoyed enough to get and listen to. I highly recommend it! It also gives me perfect ambiance when I bring someone over to my room

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
An artist that I like and can't pirate? Am I actually going to have to pay for music?

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
Don't worry. It's only 8 pounds for the digital download XD Well worth the money
God knows he needs it XD He sold his Streamer Stage II (not the custom one in the metal vid) to cover production expenses.

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
I probably just won't buy it. (Where's a shrug icon when you need one?) I still don't even have Jeff Schmidt's album because paying for music feels like such a waste. Does this make me a bad person?

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
Jeff Schmidt is pro-piracy. He gives away his music most of the time anyway.

Not really. Until the day comes when you expect to be payed for something that you have worked long and hard on and someone else expects to get it for nothing.

Fine with me. Also, I couldn't find Jeff Schmidt's album download anywhere.
Could you tell me where I can get it?

To be honest, I have that feeling too, but only with downloading music, I will gladly pay for an album, but I do want to be able to hold it, look at the pictures, read how drunk Townshend was when he came up with it. I would even say I probably spend too much money o music, just two days ago I paid 20 euro for a re-released edition of Crass's masterpiece The Feeding Of The 5000, I'll gladly give money for a great album, but not for a couple of bytes you can't even hold.

Well, I don't think you can ever spend too much money on music.
DTL knows how hard it is to get anything out of music and you're mostly at a financial loss. It's always nice for the hard-working musicians to get something back.
Big name bands, like Metallica, can get along fine with a few hundred thousand pirated copies, because one of their gigs covers that expense. However, struggling solo artists are the ones who really need the money from sales because they don't get it anywhere else.
I would sooner pay for an album that a struggling artist made if it's really good than a new album from a big name band.
The thing is, I would gladly spend money on great music (be it digital or physical), but we don't really get access to the good stuff around here. Living in Serbia can often feel like you're cut-off from the rest of the world :S
What strikes me is that we have a few local bands here, that are REALLY good, but are struggling to get anything. I would've immediately paid for their album, but they put it online as a free download even though they need the money :S
Oh and he does offer a physical copy too

Re: Brilliant bass artist! :)
Might take a while for the physical copy to arrive though. I ordered mine a week ago and it hasn't arrived yet
BTW my opinion echoes both lololiet's and Strife's exactly. We be bros.
