Slappy songs Empty Slappy songs

Post  Stryfer Wed Mar 10, 2010 10:33 pm

Well, it's been a while. I've learned to slap and stopped there. Now I'm looking to go deeper and practice more.
I'm looking for songs with a slap bass line, not a slap solo.
I need a song with a slap pattern that gets repeated, not one with an ever changing slap jack-off.

So far the songs I've done are: Higher Ground, No Chump Love Sucker, Aeroplane, Coffee Shop, Backwoods, Blackeyed Blone and Get Up and Jump by RHCP; Dig by Mudvayne and Pow by Larry Graham.

Any further suggestions?

Anything off of the Antipop album is good judging from your learned list.

Well, they covered it. Not sure if Fieldy slapped the line, but if he didn't he should've. It sounds amazing to be honest and it's even more fun to play. A real head/bassmasher of a song. You can forget everything and just hammer the strings untill your fingers bleed and have fun while doing it.

I checked out Antipop, most of the stuff was way to easy or simple for my taste. Then after a bit more searching I found Tommy the Cat. Now that was fun! Do they have anymore like that?

Yeah, I think I did. Its an easy song (except for the fills. Haven't listened/played it lately though, so I'm not quite sure any more... I definitely couldn't do them when I started slapping Razz) but good fun

yeah the fills are a tad tricky and the rythm in the solo is hard as well but it allows you to add your own rythms and fills etc

Nah, no Mark King recommendations from me. I'd recommend One World by Dire Straits, but tabs are basically nowhere to be found so you'd have to work it out by ear. Plus none of the youtube videos have the original slappidy slap slap on them, so you'd have to buy the Brothers In Arms album (which I wholeheartedly recommend) or download the mp3 from this link here (which I halfheartedly recommend).
