top 100
anyone ever see those top 100 sites or lists for guitarists or bassists...i was looking at a few and got pretty aggravated that some people didnt show up on them...but i guess its all about personal opinion...and actually playing the instrument you are rating people on playing...and also for skill i cant really rate a player on skill...i rate them on the level of emotion they use and their use of what talent they have...that to me denotes skill...if you love what you are playing and you can make an instrument sound good then you have talent..so what do you guys rate a musician on?

Influence, I see the players that have had most impact as the most important.
That's why I always rate John Alec Entwistle as #1, because without him none of us would play the way we do (or are a lot of people still thumbpicking?)

Talent and influence. My number one is the great jaco pastorious because he was an amazing player who revolutionized the sound of the bass with his use of natural and artifcial harmonics

I think that dedication is a huge factor in rating a bass player.
dedication = skill, emotion and creativity.
When someone is really dedicated to the instrument it will show.
