both have their advantages
tabs are easier to read and tell u where to play the notes
sheet music is harder to read and doesnt tell u on what string u should play, but it also gives u the rythm
a combination of both is usually the best i find

Well effectively sheet music is easier to read as it tells you whats notes and when to play them. Tab only tells you notes. I'm off the opinion that when first starting out tab is beneficial as you don't need to get bogged down learning to read and you need to be playing straight away. But as you progress you should start using your ear and sheet music, stay away from the tab when you have a good ear.
