extremely challenging songs

Name me some challenging songs on bass basically.

Been having one of those weeks you know....

I fancy learning something difficult - difficult on the hands rather than timing etc

Must be in standard tunning, I don't do drop tunnings.

Give me some idea's please!

well iv recently learnt hysteria by muse, its kinda simple riff and tricky at the same time, its also easy to get the hang of but still hard to master, and the speed he played it is insane, try it

Or.. uh.. Maxwell Murder? that song by.. I think it was rancid. Either way its heaps fast

Or anything by Protest The Hero. But theyre half step down, dunno if that would bother you, and often alot of tapping.

Or, Vidian - BTBAM, I know it says its in Drop C, but really, its played up high, you can transpose it back up to Standard, I did for the bits I learnt.

If you don't mind tapping then Stu Hamm's terminal beach is quite difficult to play (i find anyway, i've half given up).
Apparently YYZ by Rush is meant to be a challenge

You could try a couple of songs from Mudvayne, if you're into that sort of thing. Dig, Death Blooms, Determined all tricky songs, but I'll bet just about any Mudvayne bass line is a technical challange.

Then you have Victor Wooten of course

If u feel like some slap n' pop, try learning Les Claypools cover of Master of Puppets, no tabs for his version but if you look at the guitar and bass tabs on ultimate guitar or whatever, u can piece it together easily enough..

Yeah, that's pretty much all I have to add to this thread. I find Peace Sells by Megadeth quite challenging, though.

Dan learnt playing bass by learning Victor Wooten songs by ear.

Oh, I forgot about this:
I sometimes challange myself by playing synth parts of a song on the bass. Specificly Nightwish or Children Of Bodom synths. Because of the nature of the instruments, it really challanges your fingers in dexterity, speed and how far you can stretch your hand.

yea dan is a little savage on da old bass. he wants a real challenge.

Thought of another one. I'm not sure exactly how good you are with your fingers, but Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden could challange your endurance and it has one or two parts that can get very tricky.

EDIT: Phantom of the Opera by the same band also gets tricky as it progresses.
