Major decision.
I have the money.
And I think its still there.
Should I get it?
My one?
My only?
My love.
That fretless acoustic.
Ive only been playing a year and a bit.
Would it be too hazardous to get such an instrument?

Get something you can grow into.
I say go for it.

@Guzco
Ive loved that instrument for over 9 months now. Always wanted it. I want an acoustic, and I want a fretless. Two birds one stone, and that instrument stole my heart when I first picked it up.
@DTL
So you think I'd be alright getting a fretless? Cause I dont think I want to be a fretless player exclusively..

seriously drak what is so appealing about an acoustic? they arent even real basses they're like broken acoustic guitars. if you wanna play a fretless buy a electric fretless, better quality sound, strings last longer than an acoustic. i would be ashamed to have one in my room imo but its up to the individual.

Re: Major decision.
Bearing in mind I don't have any real kind of knowledge or first hand experience of acoustic basses...
Isn't that just like saying an electric bass is just a broken electric guitar?

If it's something that you want get it. Life is too damn short, you may look back in a few years and really wish you had, then it's gone.

A fretless is just as versatile as a fretted because you can, of course, play it like it has frets. Doesn't mean you have to be exclusive I don't know of any bass players off the top of my head that JUST play fretless. You'll be fine. Follow your heart.

I highly resent this. I own an acoustic bass as do a few more members. The only resemblance it bears to an acoustic guitar is it's shape. Sounds nothing like one nor does it play like one. It gives me a deeper timbre that I require for certain songs. And with my location it's more than handy for walking about in the mountains and such. And also if you pay real close attention a lot of your favorite pop-punk bands that are on Unplugged and what not have an acoustic bass somewhere. I'm not trying to be a dick, but open your mind a little.

Re: Major decision.
uhmm yeah i guess DTL but i just dont feel the sex from a acoustic (musical sound from a electric in comparasion)
seriously go for it! if you've had you're eye on it for months and you have the $$ for it Drak ...its just my opinion so i dont wanna sound like a arsehole and say my reason is right so thats it got it. im just a laid back aussie bassist chick who's cool by anything. just an opinion

coz i had a hard word to say about acoustic basses! it wasn't ment to sound as harsh as it did though. i did kinda apologize though. plus its jus an opinion so it shouldnt really influence the decision if drakon is passionate about the bass plus i know some ppl that its their and no highway option so yeah...sorry if i sounded to harsh drakon

It's pretty easy to point the finger at me, but I swear I didn't do it. Ionly use the plus button.

Re: Major decision.
Same here. I think I used the minus button once, ages ago, but I forgot what for and who to. I prefer to minus with another post, if that makes any sense. Actually challenge the thing I disagree with rather than just go "LOL I MAEK U MINUS". That's the problem with this rep system, you can't see who's just repped you, positive or negative. People generally say if they've plussed you because it's nice, but go all cowardly when it's time for a minus.

Re: Major decision.
I'd defo go for it
In addition could you fit a decent aftermarket piezo setup to it? Unless it already has one on.
That would sound pretty awesome with the quality of acoustic transducers and eq systems nowadays!
