Re: Reggae
Pippynip's a big reggae fan, he'll know some.
Myself, the only reggae I regularly listen to is Peter Tosh, but I don't know how to play any of his songs.

Re: Reggae
Reggae.
Here's a good one...
I'll leave the rest to DubHertz, but I will say that a lot of modern reggae (dancehall) re-uses beats. For example, if you learn to play Intoxication by Gentleman, you can play Be Strong by Sizzla.

Yeah, DubHertz might have more to add that's not in that thread. That thread covers technique and a couple of songs.

Re: Reggae
For a minute or two I wondered if he was an albino...
In all fairness, there is another albino reggae musician called Yellowman

Re: Reggae
Just thought of one that might be good, perhaps a better starting point than Could You Be Loved. You'll have to learn it by ear though, shouldn't be too difficult...

Re: Reggae
Apparently that video's blocked in my country.
I apologise in advance...

Re: Reggae
How would you play this one Dub? I think it's in G Major starting on the E. I can't quite figure out the best way to do the slide. G, G(octave) then slide down to A? G/G\A? I dunno.

(probably the most indie-sounding reggae I've ever heard)

Re: Reggae
No, it isn't. It doesn't have the right vibe. Everybody else seems more than happy to call it "roots reggae" though so I'll go along with that until I know what genre it really is.
Do you know of any artists like Gregory Isaacs? I got the Night Nurse album and it's a scorcher.

From that era look for Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott, Hugh Mundell, Lacksley Castell, Burning Spear, Twinkle Brothers, Jacob Miller, Horace Andy, Vivian 'Yabby You' Jackson, Barrington Levy, Beres Hammond, Johnny Clarke
That should keep you busy
