Off to my local blues jam night!

There's a small blues club near to me, which host jam nights for people, from beginner to pro's. I went last month to check it out, ended up borrowing a bass & playing a couple of tunes, I'm taking my bass tonight & can't wait!

I shall let you know how badly I do upon return!

went ok! First guy i played with kinda didn't play straight 12 bar blues when he said lol. Second guy was a great musician, went much better! Also managed to stay sober... That's harder than playing infront of people haha

Damn... that kinda thing sounds like a lot of fun. Shame tho that there isnt anything like that near me at least anything that i would heard of. Only karaoke places and normal pubs.

It was actually quite intimidating this time around - last time, there wasn't too many people, plus there was a couple of guys my age roughly - I borrowed a bass from one of them - plus the first bassist was a beginner. This time, everyone was a lot older, and one bassist was great - walking basslines all over the place. It's good practice though

Very cool, wish there was something like this around me. Jamming, in my opinion, is the best way to quickly increase your skills. I don't know why but I always get way better at something after a jam session.

that's good to hear man...i go to my local watering hole a couple nights a week and every thursday they have an open mic nite but i dont' have the balls to get up there yet...glad you do and had a good time, keep it up

Updates possibly in real time, thanks to my new phone

One word:

ABSOLUTELY F***ING AWESOME.

And then some.

I played for about 1 1/2 hours, with 3 drummers (if you can call one of them a drummer xD) and many guitarists. Was so much fun, I can't wait to go back! I got a fair amount of great compliments on my playing too :O One of the drummers I think must have had the sticks for the first time - he was just smacking the drums around, but he did look about 75ish! I clicked very well with another drummer - I think he was very new to this kinda thing too, and had only been playing drums for 2 years - his drumming wasn't 100% perfect, but I loved it, it gave it a very natural feel to it.

The acoustic bass went down very well - a few people were asking about it, and I think it cut through well enough to be heard I played MUCH better than last time, and had loads of people complimenting me - even though I didn't do anything special...! I even got invited to a pub for their acoustic jam nights - hopefully going to get to go!

Can't WAIT untill next month!
