Bass for slapping?
It might sound silly, and my friend & forumer Androssie has helped me very much by showing me some things on slapping, but I want to make one question that goes to more experienced bassists, like DTL, Smaz and all the big guys here:
Is there a bass for slapping?
I mean... I have a Pbass, classic with 1 pickup divided in 2 parts. Simple. But it's not working!!
Every one I've seen slapping and popping, are using basses with ACTIVE pickups.
And myself I played on a bass with 1 active and lower action, and sounded more slappy.
Mine is SLOPPING, not slapping; and yes it has to do with the experience etc, but I 'd like to know if I can make it through.
I am already consider of buying a better bass, to be exact the ESP LTD Viper BK04.
Can you help me with this more of a technical question?

Re: Bass for slapping?
Well you tend to find that basses with a better hi frequency response tend to sound a little better for slapping.
These are usually single coil basses or active ones.

Yeah.
Or any other bass with single coils for that matter.
The most common is a Jazz layout but you could also have splitted humbuckers or stuff like that

P-bass style pickups are also single coil. It has more to do with technique and amp settings. There's no such thing as a "Slap bass".
