You could always just make your own sub scale with the Major scale.

I usually like starting with a simle. Root, 3,5,3 or Root, 5,3,5. Putting an octave or a slide in there.

Just start with the A on the E string (5th fret)

It's nice, easy and you can have great fun with it. Very Happy

Isn't that just a triad?

Triads/5th chords consist of the the Root, 3rd and 5th of a scale. So if you saw AM5 on some sheet music or someone told you to play with that chord along with them you would play any note of the the major triad in A, and it'll sound good Smile. And 7th chords use the Root, 3rd, 5th and 7th, and a AM7 would be a major 7th chord in A with the Root, 3rd, 5th and 7th sounding nice. Theres 9th, 11th, 13th, etc too, but it's pretty easy to work out which notes you want to be playing in the chord. And minor, diminished, half diminished, augmented, dominant, etc. chords all give different moods.

You could also make a proper 3-note-at-the-same-time chord or a double stop (2 notes at the same time) with these notes too Smile

...If anyone wants me to talk more about some more chords and stuff like that I'd be happy to help Very Happy

Harmonic Minor Smile

Scales are nothing but Fretting patterns. Learn what Pattern goes with what scale and you can play any scale starting with any root.

Unless you;re in first position.

Easy now lad, I haven't gone that far yet Crying or Very sad
But it's nice of you to explain my misinterpetation of a scale cheers

Point is, last couple of weeks i have been working day of 11 hours or more and just haven't made the time to get through this. Luckily for the next week or so seems to be a little more easy going and less stressful, so i'll get to it. Very Happy

I haven't started on any of the theory yet.. i can do the major scale but only cause dman did a video on it Razz
I rarely use standard tuning so i didnt feel the need to learn the notes on the fretboard.
I'll get around to it sometime.. probably when i get my new bass and get my funkyness going in standard. Very Happy

Hehey! I know that scale Smile It's a very popular scale around where I live. Especially combined with a 7/8 time signature.
