Playing faster?

I'm still a pretty new bass player (about 8 months now) and I think I'm doing pretty good at this point. But the main problem that I always have whenever I try to play my favorite songs is that I just can't play fast enough. Is there anything I can do, maybe exercises or something, that could help me play faster?

in my opinion just keep going as far as you can in the song you want to play & you'll build that speed. Otherwise get a metronome - and just build your own exercise at your own pace & then build it up.

Make sure your technique is up to par before you try playing at faster speeds. get a nice solid left hand strength by playing some scales or other similar things.

practice scales, playing fast comes with time.
