Ibanez TR Series
I went to the shop yesterday and played a few basses. One of them was a Ibanez TR, which I liked best. There's very little info to find on the TR, since it is second-hand. Have you got any tips or anything? Can I get the colour changed? It's now dark green, and I'd love black or deep red.
I'm thinking about buying the thing. It's got brand new strings, but underneath that it sounded pretty nice. It felt good, too. If I buy it, I will be paying 300 euros, 270 pounds or 450 dollars, so I have some money left, to mod it, change colour and whatnot.
Fire away tips and stuff!
EDIT:
This, but a bit greener

That looks just like my GSR, different tuning fork arrangement though....
If it feels good and you think its the one you want, just get it = )

Re: Ibanez TR Series
I don't know anything about them, but if its an Ibanez and you like it, go for it.
As for changing the colour..
I'm assuming its got a poly layer over it, in which case you'll have to sand that off completely, sand off the paint, then prime and paint it and layer on another poly coat.
I've never done it, but I hear it's very messy, very hard work.
Unless you want to go with a natural finish, which you can do just by sanding it down to the bare wood and rather staining it or just putting on some lemon oil and voila!

Re: Ibanez TR Series
Do you guys know anything about people who can do that for you? Because I'm not the handiest. How expensive would that be?

Re: Ibanez TR Series
It'll probably be a few hundred $'s from a luthier..
And I wouldn't trust a furniture maker to do it.

Re: Ibanez TR Series
You could use a carpenter (aka furniture maker ) to do it for you if you took apart the whole thing and just gave them the body

lol I was gonna say carpenter, but it doesn't really involve woodwork.. just some sanding, painting and putting on a layer of poly.

Re: Ibanez TR Series
Okay, I bought the thing. It's pretty nice, but sometimes lacks high-end. Low-end is good though.
I guess you want pics. Gimme a min, pl0x.
EDIT: Okay, this is going to take a while. Sorry guys
