Small hands and using ya pinky

Is the 1 finger per fret rule set in stone? there is no way my pinky will reach .... when i do my scales i have to slide my hand down a little to use my pinky, this seems to work fine for the moment but is it going to cause me trouble later on as i learn more.

Definitely not! It's a good idea to obey this when on higher frets but don't put unneccesary strain on your hands or you'll damage them. As long as you can do everything at the speed you need to and you aren't hampered by your technique, keep sliding that hand down a little

I've got pretty small hands as well, just do whatever you feel is comfortable, i've managed to adapt my playing and i slide down my hand, it isn't such a big problem with practice as you'll develop you're own technique which works for you.

Thanks a lot guys i feal much better now. i do use my pinky as much as i can to try build some strength up. those vids were great and yes i did try the 1 finger per fret at the wrong end of the bass thats why started to do a little slide to hit the fourth fret. anyways thnx again
