...is nowhere to be found. What tab websites do you guize use? I use bassmasta.net, but a large amount of the tabs there are useless. I just want to learn the correct version of Sweet Child O Mine...

Oh and while I'm here I may as well ask about Under Pressure. Y'know the end of this riff?

Code:
G-----------------------
D-12-12-12-12-12-12-----
A------------------12---
E-----------------------

Yeah, how does one go about changing from the D to the A without a horrible buzzy sound coming from either fret, or either note ringing out? No matter what I try, nothing seems to go right.

Cheers in advance Very Happy

For the tabs

I suggest getting guitarpro [buy it of course, everyone else does *winks in a way that subtly suggests pirating it*] and use Guitar Pro tabs, mostly from Ultimateguitar. If you have good internet, I suggest downloading one of those 55,000 tab packs from utorrent or whatever, theyre not overy large files, like 65kb for a really high quality one.

as for under pressure, work it like a chord and hold both notes down at the same time, but only play them in the respective parts of course. and if you want to mute one, just lightly lift the finger holding it down.
It can work with one finger holding them both down, but I use middle finger for D string and pointer for A string.

My two cents.

Oh no, I couldn't ever pirate it, that's bad and wrong and naughty and oh hello thepiratebay. I was going to get a slightly similar program, Midilogic, but they've been buggering about with the software for months, I think they sold it to a different company or something. A fairly incompetent company too, I googled them to see what else they do and guess what I found? One of the employees asking some Flash forum how to code the website's banner Very Happy

I'd thank you for all that, but I already did in the first post, so nya nya Smile

Drakon explains playing the notes perfectly, listen to him Smile

As for the tabs, I usually just type "-song name- guitar pro" in google. Among the results I look for 911tabs, because they list tabs from all the websites out there.

Yeah I just google the song name with "tab" after it, then go to 911tabs which is usually the first link.
Select guitar pro tabs only and then go with the top rated one.

I agree, Guitar Pro is definitely the way to go. It's much superior than just plain text tabs. You can hear the tab before you even play it so you can tell if it's right or not and you can loop it so you can play along and learn it easier.

I just learn stuff by ear Razz Although since you guys like metal I can understand that it'd be a pain to work out those kind of basslines by ear with all those low tuned guitars

Many thankings to you all.

I reckon Guitar Pro is a little too expensive to be honest. I would have happily paid say £15, which is what I believe a similar program called Midilogic was going for before it got taken over by an apparently incompetent company a few months back.

Ugh. Red Tape.

So, has anyone here actually bought it before?

I take it you didn't notice my hidden message then... That's good, I can put loads of them everywhere! Of course I'd be rumbled if someone quoted my post, or highlighted the hidden text by accident, so I'd better be careful... You know what I'd love? If every 'minor' company set up a PayPal account, and if you think their products are too expensive then you can pay them simply what you think it's worth, or what you can afford. There'd of course be a few thousand idiots just paying a penny, but still, that's a few thousand pennies they wouldn't be getting otherwise. I believe that happened with the game World of Goo, after a 90% piracy rate initially they got 17,000 pennies they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. 6,000 paid from $0.02 to $0.99, 16,000 paid from $1 to $1.99, etc. etc. hell here have the link if you haven't seen it already

Took me ages to figure out how to do this. Partially colourblind, see, so I wasn't sure if I could see my hidden message or not. Hope it's worth it, then I can have my own little title. Sir Phantom Messager, perhaps. Arch-rival of the not-so-evil fluffy troll.

I have nothing to say here.

But yeah, I didnt see any hidden message in that last one about it being too expensive, sorry. But yeah, world of goo made a shitload of money. The people who made Trials HD just leaked their own game, but an inferior version.

Please be very careful of piracy talk etc. - I don't want dman to get in trouble for terms of use violation or something... Wink

Guitar Pro is good, but it's still relies on tabs from other people, therefore can still be just as inaccurate. I've found bassmasta to be the best place, but you'll notice most tabs are posted on every site, so there'll be little change between most. Tabs are helpful to get an idea of how to play it, but you should work on using your ear - I rarely use tabs anymore, only for complex songs, or songs where you can't hear the bassline to well Smile It's not that hard to get started - I have a thread on it somewhere...

I have to tell you, you're all using the wrong sites. MXtabs is the ONLY tab site.

Don't worry, eventually you'll get to the point where tabs are time consuming. I'd rather work on the song how I hear it right away than be bothered to find a halfway decent tab that sometimes doesn't exist. By the time I find one I could figure the song out pretty much. I just use them for reference these days. Like if there's a part I just can not figure out.
