Re: General music banter!
I love Eluveitie
All bassists should listen to mudvayne.
Powerglove are a must-listen for any gamer, or for any prog rock/prog metal fan.

Had a look at Eluveitie and ended up downloading Slania - and btw I love the pipes the guy plays with the goats head on them!!
Of course they got me playing my Sirenia albums again lol.
I won't go too in depth into my musical tastes as it would take faaar too long lol but my itunes folder has things from Newton Faulkner thru AC/DC, Marillion, etc to oddities like Visage and such.
Very elclectic lol.

Ah man, let's see how short of a post I can make. I have a lot of music and love a lot of bands... completely different bands. Every band should really be checked out, they're all really awesome. For the sake of length I won't mention bands like RHCP that get mentioned in every thread about basses ever.
1. Muse - Absolutely great band, if you haven't heard them please do. Matt Bellamy is amazing.
2. Phish - This is probably the most famous jam band with all surviving members(Grateful Dead is obviously the most famous). Their guitarist, Trey Anastasio, is amazing. If you haven't heard of him, he played with Les Claypool in Oysterhead. Also, they have some really sick bass parts, especially during jams. Listen to You Enjoy Myself, great song.
3. Cake - These guys have a really chill feeling to them that is just awesome. I suggest them to anyone. Their bassist also has some really cool lines to learn.
4. The Who - I can't believe someone on this site hasn't heard of them but great music. Check out their rock opera!
5. Green Day - Check out their stuff before American Idiot. The early stuff is awesome and again, they have some really cool bass parts.
6. Catch 22 - They have some cool stuff, I suggest checking them out. Keasby Nights is a really cool song and I'm also a fan of 9mm and a Three Piece Suit.
7. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - If you like ska, these guys are skacore and they are AMAZING! If you don't know what ska is, this is a great way to find out.
8. Jonathon Coulton - Really weird guy, but funny and his music is actually really good.
9. Colin Hay - If you've ever heard of the band Men At Work, he was the lead singer and guitarist. His solo work is a lot better and mostly acoustic. Overkill and Waiting For My Real Life to Begin are my favorites.
10. YES - Seriously, if you don't know them look them up right now.
11. John Legend - If you ever want to just chill out sometime and need some music to calm you donw, John Legend will do the trick. He's got a great voice and is a really good piano player. Definitely suggest Green Light, If You're Out There, and Ordinary People.
This list was in no particular order, just based on when I thought of them. I may post more later but I have to leave for now. Enjoy.

Yeah, they are pretty much the same band. But I don't have as much stuff by them and know Catch 22 a lot better.

Been listening to Closure in Moscow lately (went and saw them play as well)
Amazing, especially the backup vocals.
I love the style they they put on their songs.
Karnivool- great progressive style hard rock (plus the bassist uses 6er wicks )
Them crooked Vultures- awesome hard rock band made by great musicians
Little Birdy- I have come to the realistaion that they have to be my favourite band of all time (shame they've now seprated , was looking forward to seeing them live when they next played)
Sugar Army - ryhtmical riffs is all i have to say
So yeah that's just what i've been listening to lately (there's plenty more mind you).
