It apparently doesn't cause arthritis, but it can cause weakness in grip strength. That's what I've heard so far.

(from an old post)
Their has only been one study that has proven anything, and here's the results.
-Cracking them is only moving the joint out of their natural postion, and releaseing the pressure on the synovial fluid. This create and pocket of gas that pops making the cracking sound you hear.
-This has no effect on arthritis, you have 27 bones in you hand, so it's the most comon kind of arthritis people get, seeing as we use our hands to do almost everything.
-This does however have a minor impact on your grip strenght(in a bad way)
-This can also elongate the joints.(usually unnoticeable)

btw- the wording is minor, its not something that's going to ruin your life.

sorry if that came across as a dramatic change in grip strength. I didn't know how much (I thought a little but wasn't certain). Thanks for clearing that up.
It can't be too bad for you considering chiropractors do it all the name (but then i guess they're trained, and there are those who doubt that chiropracting (?) actually works).

I've heard that finger cracking can cause damage to the tendons.
Only deliberate finger cracking, mind. Something to do with pulling your fingers and straining the tendons. So an eventual weakening of grip sounds plausible...

Your tendons are built to stretch. I wouldn't worry about it.
