Where do I put my fingers????

Hi all well been playing for about two weeks now and I have a question (one of many), and that is where abouts on the fret do I place my fretting fingers, I see some advice says the finger should be close to (but not on) the fret bar, where as other advice says (or shows) the middle of the fret. I see some of Dmans vids his fingers are near the fret bar and on others its in the middle.

I find it is difficult, due to short fingers to properly play Under the Bridge, unlsee I use my pinky.

Any and all advice would be great.

Whatever you're comfortable with as long as it's not in the fourth that's closest to the head of your bass.

Say you're fretting the 3rd fret, anywhere between the dot and the fret line between the 3rd and 4th fret is a good rule of thumb. Or finger, as the case may be
