The Book of Bass! Empty Re: The Book of Bass!

Well firstly here would be some pointers, As I am currently writing a similar thing on a different subject I may be able to help with the basics (or I could be really bad at it but Ill give you my ideas anyway.)

1. Split it up into different sections. I would suggest a Beginner, Intermediate and advanced section at least.
2. Start with some core things that everyone should know and do. Such as finger exercises.
3.Treat everyone as total newbies at the beginning.
4. Diagrams help, If you have problems with this I am sure people here could help out, I might for starters.
5. If you put in tabs ect for people to play along to, I would suggest to keep copyrighted material down, and if it does put it in make sure you make a note of both the bands name and record agents company.

As for actual material maybe teaching people how to read music notation.

Hellooooooo Spoon! (great pictures btw)

The book will have little theory, so I won't be covering notation.

Yea, I have the book structured as Beginner, intermediate, etc....

I thought about pictures at first, but then thought i'd just make loads of mini vids, exaplining what im writing, and give people access to those vids via a password which will come with the book.

Thanks for ya input so far, though!

I'm not sure to be honest what you could put in other than what's been said already... Maybe an in depth analysis of some really great songs and showing why they're so good?

You couldnt compile them onto a DVD, People may lose interest if they have slow connections etc

Maybe as an option, even. Price it in, extra $5 for the DVD or something

Thats a good idea, Drakster, but it's an E-book, so the download will be immediate....

I don't think people will wanna wait for the dvd in the post. Maybe i'll cover both options?

How about doing a section on how to avoid bad habits? I think its a common mistake for beginners to try learn technique that their hands aren't ready for, overstretching their hands on lower notes etc. Our hands were not designed to play bass, we just re designed them over time. No doubt you will be covering slapping, a lot of beginners want to jump into this straight away without developing a good right hand technique first. Great idea man. You must not sleep with the amount of stuff you do.

"Bass for the potential lords of ROCK!"

Change "Rock" for your prefered genre.

Very Happy

*sings DreamEvil* The Book Of Heavy Metalll! ....Bass.

As for the DVD idea, if its an EBook, then maybe the download thing would be best, Or maybe a choice to download them with the Ebook, But how long would it take to send a DVD?
Or you could cost factor in the price of printing the book, at a professional printing place, and the DVD with it. I dunno, just see how much it would be to print your book and maybe a face on the DVD [to look all professional like, and add a little too it. But make it significantly cheaper. May instill peoples ideas in the professionalism of it, and yeah..

just ideas.

I mean, for the first part
A history type of thing for bass
Keep it kinda simple for the sake of bordom
I'd like it, not sure about everyone else

And a list of the best bass plays, why you(and mabey others) think they are the best
A really dense but brief overview on most bass skills and stuff
And some waffle
I like your waflle man
