Also, as said before, MJ, try out some new music, I recommend Cream.

At the bottom of most LastFM pages there's a little section on the right entitled Do More, find the link that says Chart Images.

I suppose I need to find a 2nd interest? That's going to be hard.

Lololiet I have looked up new music, but I can't get into any of it if it isn't metal. I want to like more genres, but some reason I just don't. Although I like all the sub-genres of metal...except thrash.

Lol, I have the opposite problem. I just can't get into any metal 'heavier' than thrash.

Do you do a sport?
You could start a sport.
Or learn a different instrument.
What I do when i get bored with bass, is pick up my acoustic guitar and play around on that for a few days.

You could also try a different technique to play the bass.
Buy a slide and try playing some slide bass ^^ (which im trying tonight Smile )

I'm really not the outdoors type of person. I'll try playing with another instrument.

You could just try a musical genre you usually don't listen to. It has helped me a lot.

I agree with max. Put down the bass for a couple of days pick up a guitar. What I like to do is record a bass line or guitar riff then improvise over it with the other instrument

I think it might because I don't play enough metal. I listen to metal sure, but honestly, I know maybe 2 metal songs and never play em. By metal I mean, not Iron Maiden, but metal that's in drop tunings and distorted like crazy. I doubt it, but I just tuned my bass to D standard and having a little fun with it.

I'm having a lot of trouble play with 3 fingers on my E string. Anyone got any advice for that?

Great thanks guys! So now I can play with 3 fingers perfectly, but I've been playing metal a lot more and playing really aggressively with my fingers. My fingers will get worn out after 3 or 4 times of just one riff because I'm playing so hard. (I'm playing hard on purpose, for the metal sound) Anyways anyone got any advice to help with this? I'm getting exhausted after doing practically nothing!

Keep doing it until you aren't tired. Very Happy

You just need to build up endurance, try warming up as well by doing slower songs/scales first.

Use some The Who for practice, John always played with 3/4 fingers.

To be honest MJ, you should have been familiar with The 'Oo, else you're a barbarian.

Exactly, John Entwistle is one of the greatest bassist ever. I'd never be so bold as to name the greatest bassist ever, but Entwistle would sure as hell be in the running.

Well, Entwistle was the person who got us all playing fingerstyle. Very Happy

On the vid, I think the solo's good and all that, but the drums needed a bit more variation IMO.

I seem to have a problem fingering fast and hard with my right hand. Every time I start going too fast I begin galloping unintentionally because my 3rd finger is slower or just used to it or something. Are there any songs that would help me gain speed with playing with 3 fingers?

Also, pinky. It's too freakin short.

That's what she said. Razz

In any case, try doing finger exercises, starting slowly, then raising the speed?

Indeed, you could try just a simple 1-2-3-4 exercise using 3 fingers with a fixed pulse.

Metallica - Battery, I swear the song was made for practising 3 fingers.
