Stringing stuff
Alright so i was trying to do a tap and i noticed that what was making it a lot harder to do than my teacher's bass is that my strings are way above the fretboard! How do i bring them closer to the fretboard?
Might a problem occur because of the little curve my bass has ?

Re: Stringing stuff
Action! You need to adjust the action. You see the little screws (the ones without heads and need a hexagon shaped screw driver) on the bridge? You need to screw them a bit and it lowers the action... But if you don't know what you're doing (like me), get a pro to do it. A bit of bend on the neck is normal but it depends on how the action is set up.

Screw them to the inside?Or in some way unscrew them?

Re: Stringing stuff
Trussrod probally needs tweaking. If your confident about doing it go for it, but be sure to read up on what you are exactly doing and what way you need to turn the truss rods as it does change on certain basses. Only turn 1/4 at a time and leave it half an hour at the least to set (im sure i've seen its recomended to leave it a few hours somewhere!). Or get a pro to do it, problem is they arn't cheap.

Re: Stringing stuff
Best bet: Tell your teacher the problem, and ask if there's anything he can do/recommend. If he is a teacher, he's most likely got enough experience of tweaking his own bass to be able to help you. If not, he may be able to recommend someone who can, or at least show you what screws need adjusting etc.
If you don't know what you're doing & dive into it, you can actually make the action worse, and it can be a nightmare to sort out if you don't know what you're doing... I'll hunt for some guides tomorrow on how to do it, as I've just got back from work & it's almost midnight here

Re: Stringing stuff
Heres a guide for setting up a bass, look at page 1 and 2.
http://www.tunemybass.com/bass_setup
Theres probably a more detailed guide somewhere, but that sums it up
It's called an allen key, max..

Most Allan keys people have around are quite big as they come with flat pack furniture from IKEA or similar.
