Re: Introduce yourself!
The only Slipknot song I like is Before I Forget, and that's only because it was on Motorstorm so it gives me wonderful memories of running bikers over in lorries and that.

A couple years ago I was really into Iron Maiden/Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest, Sabbath, Helloween, Megadeth, Iced Earth, Saxon, etc. Then I got bored with that so I started listening to stuff mainly from Finland 'cause I liked the darker, melodic sound..stuff like Sentenced/Poisonblack, Charon, Falconer, Entwine. Agalloch made it in, too, even though they're not Finnish. Now it's a mix of everything and I couldn't be happier

Re: Introduce yourself!
Hmmm, I'm surprised I didn't find Children of Bodom in that list. Used to love 'em, now they're just ok. I found that lately I don't enjoy the over use of the double bass pedal, or the endless speed picking and shredding on guitars.
Stryfer
Re: Introduce yourself!
Bodom's still on the list, but I'd be here forever if I listed everything I listen to. When I'm in a Bodom mood, Arch Enemy, Ensiferum and Otep are usually close behind.
Lufic
Re: Introduce yourself!
I like Arch Enemy, but I really don't like Children of Bodom. Not entirely sure why, maybe the fact I've only heard one song from each band is the reason? The CoB one was Done With Everything, Die For Nothing, and the Arch Enemy one was Nemesis.

If DTL was here, he would side with Prog with me </3
Between The Buried and Me FTFW
Also, Scale the summit is love.
and OMFG Black, you are me like four years ago, almost the exact same things as me four years ago. Trippy.
Im surprised, quite often in these sort of threads become "I LUV BLAK MET@L LUL"
And I dont think I saw a single person misrepresent post hardcore for metal.
And goddamn whoever said they were into Maximum The Hormone, I listened to a song and I am SO confused right now.

Re: Introduce yourself!
I'm the culprit What's wrong with it? Which song? If you are trying to understand their lyrics...forget it
By the way, I listed the metal bands I was into because that's where this whole thing started.
Like I said, I'm not just into metal anymore. I've gone off into several directions. RHCP are for example still one of my favourite bands, as well as a lot of old school rock 'n' roll.
As for the genres of metal, black metal, hardcore...I discard them! (death note referance ) Every band could be in a genre of it's own. Theres also millions of metal heads who like hardcore and punk just as well.
P.S. Forgot to add Rammstein last time! I don't believe it - they are going to be live here soon and I forgot about them

Re: Introduce yourself!
'Best album of 2008' is like saying 'Shiniest turd'.
(that's not to say everything in 2008 was shit, but... y'know, a fair amount was.)

Re: Introduce yourself!
I dunno pip, 2008 wasnt that bad. it equaled with shitty albums and not-shitty albums..
I mean, there were phailhaus albums from bands with heaps of albums already [yeah, Im looking at you Metallica]
But yeah.
Like, Bleeding Through's Declaration was pretty good, and I guess some would say Protest The Herp's Fortress was good [if anyone apart from me actually liked them >.<] and After the Burial's Rareform was good too..
Not to mention City and Colour's Bring me your love.
Heaven Shall Burn's Iconoclast.
It wasnt as good as LD50, but Mudvaynes new album was pretty cool, too
I think Paramore's Riot was in 2008, too.
And rise against's Appeal to Reason
And, well, Slipknots new album was.. okay.. I mean, Snuff was a masterpeice, but the rest of it was awfully.. yeah
And Secret and Whispers album was pretty cool
AND SCALE THE SUMMIT'S CARVING DESERT CANYONS <3
Then Bullet for my Valentine and Trivium went and ruined it for everyone.
And the Human Abstract album was all full of disapointment
Hell, Bullet ruined it in January, they wanted everyone to know that the year was ruined XD
And that Pink album. Ugh, I hate her so much. Horrible.
After writing, it seems that 2008 was actually pretty good 0.0

Re: Introduce yourself!
Death Magnetic was a good album (by good, i mean better than anything they'd done since the black album), or at least it would have been if it wasn't incredibly poorly edited. In fact the only two 2008 albums I paid any positive attention to were Death Magnetic and AC/DC's Black Ice, both of those fall under your 'phailhaus' category.
And I like not even one of the bands you mentioned. Especially not Paramore. (edit: oops, forgot Scale The Summit. They're alright, actually)
In the end it all comes down to music tastes, and my music taste pretty much stops after the 90's.
