Pedals!!!
Hey there, I'm wondering what kind of pedal brands I should avoid. I've never really used pedals before. I've got an old Digitech guitar distortion pedal, but it doesn't sound the greatest on my bass. I was thinking of maybe getting a bass overdrive pedal or a chorus pedal, or maybe a flanger pedal. I'm really not sure lol. Never tried them. I noticed there is some Ibanez pedals fairly cheap. So which brands should I avoid?

Not avoid Ibanez, or avoid Ibanez?Dropthelines585 wrote:not ibanez, that's for sure.
Either way my Ibanez PD-7 overdrive/distortion is pretty good, and I'd reccomend it to anyone (works nicely on guitar too).
Personally I avoid brands whos pedals are made of plastic (Behringer is one such company). I don't want to step on a pedal and then crush it because I stomped on it too hard

Do not avoid Ibanez. They make great pedals. You should be supporting Behringer, max. Aren't they a British company?

I think of buyin' that ibanez instead of the multieffect boss.

Re: Pedals!!!
Boss makes sick pedals.
I'm currently borrowing distortion and chromatic tuner pedals, and both work perfectly.
They get quite pricey brand new though, so if you can get a earlier model used, do it up.

Re: Pedals!!!
The basic Boss DS-1 distortion pedal is really meh.. very thin sound. It's supposedly a very modifiable pedal if you're good with circuit boards and solder. That's what I'm going to make my next project..
Other than that, I don't really know - I want a wah pedal next!

Re: Pedals!!!
The reason that your guitar distortion pedal isn't good for bass is self-explanatory: it wasn't designed to be used with a bass. Bass-specific distortion pedals have more support for the low end, so the fundamental actually goes through when you play the notes. It's no surprise then when you have no punch with your distorted bass because you have no low end.
