string muting question

When I learned to strum with my fingers, I learned to mute the other strings with my other fingers on my strumming hand. I have recently started playing with a pick, and I was wondering how do you mute strings when you are using a pick? I suppose in a slower song you could use your fretting hand to mute strings, but what about in a fast song where your fretting hand has to be elsewhere (like on frets)? How would you mute strings then? Thanks!
