Re: Strings.....
Strings are still good.. just boiled them again and they're really flexible.. almost like rope.
I also tried out a suggestion i found on talkbass about melting butter and wiping it on the strings to get rid of the "new string" sound, and it worked.
Just melted a little butter, soaked some up in a rag and wiped it on the strings, then wiped as much of it off as i could with a clean towel.
My strings sound heaps fat and punchy now

Heh I use boomers too. but I use 45-105... But I can relate to that... I havn't changed my strings in like 7 months and from about the 17th fret to the first fret I have managed to make the top half of the strings black... same with where I strum haha... I have a fresh set just to lazy to put them on...
How much are the Beautys normally?

Going by ebay prices, about $40 american.
I might get a set, but the black strings on my black bass might look a little weird.. and all the other colours are goofy.
Why dont they just have clear coated strings?
WHY?!
WHY DAMN YOU?!

I'm kinda goofy myself. So coloured strings don't really faze me. I mean aren't we all goofy anyways. We are bass players... we stand in the back and make funny faces...

yea i'm pretty much the same. I'm just considering more expensive strings to see if they make much difference. Has anyone ever tried boiling their strings? I've never tried it myself but I have read that it can restore some tone.
Just finished doing this, and they sound really bright. has it worked? yes.
